Redmi will be launching the Note 8 series of smartphones on August 29th in China. The series will include Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro phones that will arrive successors to the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro that were unveiled earlier this year. The key details of Redmi Note 8 Pro have appeared in recent reports. Now, the Chinese manufacturer has shared some vital details surrounding the Redmi Note 8, such as processor and rear cameras.
We already knew the Redmi Note 8 Pro would be the world’s first smartphone with the Helio G90T processor. While the Note 8 was also rumoured to be powered by the same chipset, Redmi has now confirmed that the Note 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 665 mobile platform.
The Snapdragon 665 SoC is present under the hood of the Xiaomi Mi A3 (Mi CC9e in China) and the recently announced Realme 5. The Chinese firm has also released a poster of the Redmi Note 8 that reveals that the phone is equipped with a quad camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary lens. There is no confirmation on whether it is equipped with Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor. The main lens will be accompanied by an ultrawide sensor, a super macro camera and an unknown fourth lens. As for as the Note 8 Pro, it will come with 64-megapixel quad rear cameras.
The quad camera setup of the Redmi Note 8 is placed at the top-left corner of the device. The Redmi Note 8 Pro images have shown that its quad camera is placed at top-centre. While the fingerprint scanner is not visible in the above image, given that the Note 8 Pro has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, it’s unlikely that the Note 8 will feature an in-display sensor.
Rumours surrounding the Redmi Note 8 have revealed that it could be featuring a waterdrop-style notch screen. It could be packed with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The Note 8 could arrive in China in three editions of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. It is expected to arrive in three colours in the home market such as Meteorite Black, Fantasy Blue and White. On August 29th, Redmi will be also announcing its first Redmi TV series.
