Redmi has teased its Redmi Note 9 smartphone in India today, though the launch date has not been announced yet. The Redmi Note 9 India launch confirmation comes just a day after a report revealed the smartphone is headed to India. To recall, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 globally a couple of months ago alongside Mi Note 10 Lite and Redmi Note 9 Pro. The smartphone’s key highlights are its punch-hole display, MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, and quad rear cameras.
At the time of the Redmi Note 9 global unveiling, there were rumours at the time that it might soon come to India, rebranded as Redmi 10X. However, with the new tweet, it seems that the brand will not rebrand the smartphone. Heres’ what we know about the Redmi Note 9 launch in India as of now.

The brand has taken to Twitter today to announce that the Redmi Note 9 is launching soon in India. The brand has tweeted an image showing a wrestling championship belt, on which we can see the words, “Redmi Note 9, The Undisputed Champion.” The tweet doesn’t reveal the launch date of the handset in India.
According to a recent report, the Redmi Note 9 will be launched in India in the third week of July, likely on July 20th.
Redmi Note 9 specifications and features
The Redmi Note 9 features a 6.53-inch full HD+ punch-hole display with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi Note 9 is the world’s first device to come powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. Redmi is offering the handset in two configurations – 3GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. There’s an option to increase the onboard storage up to 512GB using a microSD card.
Coming to cameras, the Redmi Note 9 comes with a quad-camera module on the back comprising of a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro-shooter, and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a single punch-hole cutout housing a 13MP shooter.
Out of the box, Redmi Note 9 boots MIUI 11 based on Android 10 and is powered by a 5,020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Connectivity-wise, the phone offers dual-SIM, 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port.
