Xiaomi postpones first sale of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max due to state lockdowns

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 9 series consisting of Pro and Pro Max variants earlier this month in India. The former is already on sale while the latter is scheduled to be available from tomorrow i.e. March 25th. Now, Xiaomi has postponed the sale date of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max to a later date which is yet to be announced. The announcement was made by Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain on Twitter, stating the reason for postponing was due to multiple state lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Redmi Note 9 smartphones share the same specifications apart from the camera configuration, variants and fast charging speeds.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max specifications and features

The Redmi Note 9 Pro boasts of a FHD+ display measuring 6.67-inches with a punch-hole camera cutout in the centre. Design-wise, the device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button. A Gorilla Glass 5 is layered on the top and back panel for protection against accidental damage and scratches. The back panel houses a square-shaped quad-camera module. It comprises of a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth camera. There is a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is offered in three colour options – Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue and Glacier White. 

On the hardware front, the Note 9 Pro Max houses Snapdragon 720G chipset. It is available in 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB RAM and storage configurations. The device features a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,020mAh battery with a bundled 33W fast charger. The Redmi Note 9 Pro features a USB Type-C port, IR Blaster, NavIC, 3.5mm jack, Dual VoLTE and VoWiFi support out of the box. 

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max price in India

The base variant of Note 9 Pro Max is priced at Rs 14,999, while the 6GB + 128GB option will retail at Rs 16,999. The top-end 8GB + 128GB model carries a price tag of Rs 18,999.
