Xiaom’s sub-brand Redmi launched its latest Redmi Note 9 series smartphones called the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max just last month. While the former previously went on sale in India, the latter’s first sale was delayed due to the coronavirus lockdown. Both new Note series smartphones sport a centre-aligned punch-hole camera cutout which Redmi has dubbed as Dot Display. Now, it seems that the company is working on an even more affordable standard Redmi Note 9. A mysterious Redmi device with model number M2003J15SC has been spotted on China’s TENAA certification authority, and it’s believed to be the vanilla Redmi Note 9 variant. Here’s everything that the TENAA listing has revealed.
Redmi Note 9 images spotted on TENAA
As you can see in the gallery above, the Redmi Note 9 seems to be following the same design as its siblings, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max. We can spot the quad-camera module in a familiar square island towards the centre of the back panel. However, it seems that the company is moving the fingerprint scanner from the side to the rear panel, in what looks like the extension of the camera module. Another significant change we can spot is that the single punch-hole cutout has been moved from the centre to the top left corner of the display. Apart from that, everything else is pretty standard with the volume and power buttons on the left. The renders don’t reveal any other details of the handset, but can expect it to feature a USB Type-C port at the bottom.
