Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S launched in Malaysia as a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 9 series earlier this month in India. The lineup consists of a Pro and Pro Max variant. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has introduced a new variant called Redmi Note 9s in the Malaysian market. The device is a rebranded version of the Note 9 Pro and comes with the same specifications and features. Let’s take a look at what the device offers out of the box.

Redmi Note 9S specifications and features

The Redmi Note 9S sports a 6.67-inch bearing FHD+ resolution with a punch-hole cutout. Design-wise the smartphone features a square-shaped camera module on the back panel. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. Gorilla Glass 5 is fitted on the front and back panel for protection against accidental damage and scratches. The Redmi Note 9S is offered in Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue and Glacier White colour options. 

The Redmi Note 9S camera setup consists of a 48MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The punch-hole cutout on the front houses a 16MP selfie snapper. The device offers camera-related features like night mode, portrait mode and more. 

The Redmi Note 9S is equipped with a Snapdragon 720G processor. It is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The device offers a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 512GB. The Redmi Note 9S draws its power from a 5,020mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. Connectivity options on the device include a USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR Blaster. 

Redmi Note 9S pricing and availability

In Malaysia, the Redmi Note 9S is priced at RM 799 (~Rs 13,700) for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB model will retail at RM 899 (~Rs 15,400). There is no word regarding the availability of the smartphone.
