Redmi Pad 5G with Snapdragon 765G and 90Hz display tipped to launch in China on April 27th

On: April 22, 2020

Xiaomi is known best for its smartphones in India, but some might remember that the company also launched a tablet in the country back in 2015 – the Mi Pad. Unfortunately, the brand didn’t launch the succeeding generations of the Mi Pad in India, and the last tablet in the series, the Mi Pad 4, was announced in China in 2018. Xiaomi has been quiet on the tablet front since then, but if a new report is to be believed, the company is gearing up to enter the segment once again, this time in under its Redmi sub-brand. As per Twitter tipster Tech In Deep, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Pad 5G alongside the Mi 10 Youth Edition and MIUI 12 in China on April 27th.

Redmi Pad 5G specifications and features

As per the tipster, the Redmi Pad 5G will feature a 90Hz display, however the display size and resolution isn’t mentioned. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G processor and come with support for 5G networks. The rear camera will feature 48MP resolution and feature AI capabilities. The resolution of the front camera hasn’t been specified. The device will feature 30W fast charging, although we don’t know the battery capacity as yet. Quad speakers are also on board, and the tablet will run a MIUI interface that is optimized for tablets. The images of the tablet shared by the tipster show slim top and bottom bezels, with the ones on the side being quite thin.

Redmi Pad 5G price and availability

The tipster has mentioned that the price of the tablet will be RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,500). If the tablet does launch on April 27th, it is likely to go on sale in China soon after. Since we haven’t heard much about the Redmi Pad 5G in the past, it’s advisable to take this information with a pinch of salt. It’s just a few days until the tablet’s alleged launch, so we’ll know then if this information is accurate or fake.
