- Redmi Pad 5G is said to be in the works
- A leaked image of the device has surfaced on Weibo
- It is likely to feature a MediaTek chip
Redmi Pad 5G launch date could be drawing near. The reason behind it is that a live shot of the alleged tablet has surfaced on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site. In addition, the alleged Redmi Pad was recently spotted on Chinese certification platforms like CMIIT and 3C in June 2022. These developments indicate that it may not take too long for the tablet to go official.
In addition to the Redmi Pad, Xiaomi is also said to be working on the Xiaomi Pad 6 series for China. In the coming months, Redmi will be launching the Redmi K50 series, whereas Xiaomi will be unveiling the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 in China. It is likely that the aforementioned tablets may go official alongside the K50S series and MIX Fold 2.

The Redmi Pad’s live shot only gives a look at its rear design. It is unclear whether it has a metallic or polycarbonate rear. At the upper-left corner of the device’s back is a single camera without a flash. The plain appearance of the device suggests that it could be a mid-range device.
Redmi Pad 5G specifications (rumoured)
Nothing much is known about the specifications of the Redmi Pad. It is believed that the Redmi tablet with model number 22081281AC, which appeared in the database of CMIIT and 3C certification platforms in June, could be the Redmi Pad. These listings revealed support for 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, and 67W fast charging.
Unfortunately, there is no other information available on the specifications of the Redmi Pad 5G. According to Xiaomiui, the device may come preloaded with MIUI Lite, a toned-down version of MIUI for low-end devices. The support for 5G connectivity suggests that it may rival the Realme Pad X 5G. The Redmi tablet is also expected to be released in India in the coming months.
Xiaomi Pad 6 series (rumoured)
The Xiaomi Pad 6 series may include three models, the Xiaomi Pad 6, the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro, and the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro 5G. The lineup is likely to be powered by MediaTek and Qualcomm chipsets. The Pro 5G may come in Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 chipset variants. The Pad 6 series is expected to support 67W to 120W fast charging, a 144Hz refresh rate display, and quad speakers.
