Redmi Pad has been launched in India. Earlier this year, Xiaomi re-entered the tablet market by launching the Xiaomi Pad 5 with a price tag of Rs 26,999. Now, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has announced the Redmi Pad as its first-ever tablet aimed toward first-time tablet buyers. With a starting price of Rs 14,999, the Redmi Pad will be competing with similarly priced tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8, Realme Pad, OPPO Pad Air, Moto Tab G62, and Lenovo M10 FHD Plus.
The Redmi Pad features an LCD panel that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it has the latest Helio G-series chipset. The phone packs a big battery that carries supports fast charging. In addition, it has an ultra-wide front-facing camera for video calls.
Redmi Pad specifications and features
The Redmi Pad is fitted with a 10.61-inch LCD screen that produces a 2K resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen also offers 10-bit colours, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, and up to 400 nits of brightness. The Widevine L1-certified device allows users to watch HD content on streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar.
The Redmi Pad is powered by the Helio G99, which is a 6nm chipset. It is coupled with up to 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is a microSD card slot on the device for expanding its storage. It houses an 8,000mAh battery, which can last for the entire day easily. The retail box of the device has a 22.5W fast charger, but it supports only 18W charging via a USB Type-C port.
The back panel of the device has an autofocus-enabled 8-megapixel camera without a flash. The rear camera carries support for document scanning. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a 105-degree field-of-view. It offers a feature called FocusFrame, which can automatically adjust the frame to accommodate more people.
The tablet boots to the Android 12 OS with the MIUI 13 skin on top. It will get OS updates for two years and security updates and MIUI updates for three years.
The Redmi Pad also features Dolby Atmos-certified quad speakers and dual microphones for noise reduction. On the connectivity front, it offers features like dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3. It sports a slim profile of 7mm and weighs around 465 grams.
Redmi Pad price in India
The Redmi Pad has arrived in India in three configurations: 3GB RAM + 64GB storage, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Both models are priced at Rs 14,999, Rs 17,999, and Rs 19,999, respectively. As a special introductory offer, the three variants of the Redmi Pad can be bought for Rs 12,999, Rs 14,999, and Rs 16,999, respectively.
The Redmi Pad can be bought in shades like Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver, and Mint Green. It will be available for purchase at 12 pm on October 5th, 2022, through Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home, and retail outlets. Buyers purchasing the Redmi Pad through Mi.com will be able to take advantage of 10 percent discount.
