Xiaomi has previously teased a Fire OS-based TV on its social platforms. It has been officially confirmed that the company will launch a Redmi Smart TV based on Fire OS 7.
This is a Fire OS version, so that the smart TV will be available on Amazon and Mi.com.
This will be the first time Xiaomi will use Fire OS in their smart TVs. All the previous smart TVs from Xiaomi came with Android TVs with a Patchwall launcher on top.
Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned anything about Patchwall UI on the landing page of the smart TV on Amazon. But the company has revealed many other features of the smart TV on the teasers.
The TV will come with a metallic Bezel-less design, Airplay, Miracast, Dual Band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0. The TV will also come with bottom-firing speakers, and it is teased with immersive audio and outstanding visuals.
The company has also teased that it will come with eco-friendly packaging, which can be cut out to make a Mi Bunny storage unit.
CCI Ruling On Google Has Started Showing Its Effects
Last month, the Competition Commission of India ruled against the monopolistic practices of Google. Previously, it wasn’t possible for companies to release products on competing operating systems if they want to use the Android platform, both for phones and Smart TVs. This has since changed after the ruling from CCI, and companies are free to use whatever platforms for their devices. This means we can expect more smart TV makers to start using the Fire OS platform on their smart TVs, especially the smart TV brands already selling on Amazon, such as OnePlus, Kodak, Acer, and more. Onida already has Fire OS-based smart TVs on Amazon.
