- Xiaomi confirms Redmi’s debut in the Indian smart TV market
- The launch date is set for March 17th at 12pm
- The brand has teased an ‘XL’ sized TV
Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi Note 10 series of budget smartphones in India. At the same event, the brand also teased the launch of the Redmi TV in the country with the tagline, ‘The XL Experience’. The company has now announced on Twitter that Redmi’s first smart TV will launch in the country on March 17th.
Xiaomi has once again emphasised the #XLExperience in its tweet and its pretty obvious now that Redmi will launch a TV with a large-sized display. While earlier speculations hinted at the Redmi MAX TV launching here, we think this might be unlikely.

The brand has confirmed the launch of the upcoming Redmi TV through its official Twitter handle. The tweet shows a person sitting on a couch with a gigantic TV in front of him. Additionally, the tweet confirms that “Redmi’s first Smart _ _ is coming your way on 17th March at 12 noon“.
The Redmi MAX TV launched in China last year comes in 86-inch and 98-inch display sizes priced at ~Rs 91,000 and ~Rs 2,24,125, respectively. Since Xiaomi launches affordable products under its Redmi brand in India, it’s unlikely for the brand to launch a premium smart TV with a price tag close to Rs 1 lakh or above.
Redmi is more likely to debut with a 55-inch or 65-inch variant, which could be a completely new series or a new Redmi MAX model. As of now, nothing else is known about the upcoming smart TV.
Redmi MAX TV specifications and features
The Redmi MAX TV’s 98-inch display comes with 4K UHD resolution, HDR support, and MEMC motion compensation technology. Other display features include 85 per cent NTSC colour gamut and a dynamic 192-level backlight. On the audio front, the Redmi MAX TV features two 8W speakers with Dolby sound and DTS-HD audio.
At the core, the premium TV has a 12nm architecture with Mali-G31 MP2 GPU and 4GB RAM. There’s 64GB storage onboard the Redmi MAX TV. Software-wise, the Redmi MAX TV boots the latest PatchWall interface based on the Android TV OS. Lastly, the connectivity options include three HDMI and two USB ports, AV input, Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi.
