Redmi TVs tipped to launch in India this year: expected date, specifications

Xiaomi launched its first smart TV in February 2018 and has consistently retained the top spot in India’s smart TV market. A Counterpoint Research report revealed that the company held a market share of 27 percent in Q1 2020. Fresh information suggests that Xiaomi could be planning to launch Redmi branded TV series in India soon.

According to the popular tipster Mukul Sharma, Xiaomi may introduce Redmi smart TVs in India with competitive price tags as early as March. The arrival of Redmi TVs may allow the company to further extend its lead in the Indian market.

Redmi TV X models debuted back in May 2020 in China

In May 2020, Redmi launched the Redmi Smart TV X series such including the X50, X55, and X65 models in China. Sharma suggests that the company may launch the X55 and X65 variants in India.

Xiaomi launched the 65-inch Xiaomi Mi TV 4X with a price tag of Rs 54,999 back in September 2019. The TV has been out of stock for some time. It remains to be seen whether the company replaces it with a cheaper 65-inch Redmi TV X65. There is a possibility that the company may launch different Redmi TVs specifically designed for the Indian market.

Redmi Smart TV X55 and X65 specifications and features

The Redmi Smart TV X55 and X65 support 4K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 178-degree viewing angle. They are powered by a quad-core Cortex-A73 processor and 2GB of RAM. Both TVs offer 32GB of native storage and can be used to control IoT devices. They run Android TV along with the PatchWall interface.

The Redmi TV X models offer audio features such as four 12.5W speakers, an 8-unit subwoofer, Dolby Audio, and DTS-HD support. The TVs offer connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Infrared sensor, 3 x HDMI ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, an AV port, an RJ-45 jack, and a S/PDIF port. The 55-inch and 65-inch Redmi Smart TV X models were introduced for RMB 2,299 (~Rs 30,000) and RMB 3,299 (~Rs 37,200), respectively, in the home market.
