Xiaomi offers laptops under its Mi and Redmi brands in China. Earlier this month, the company expanded its product portfolio in India by entering into the laptop segment. The Chinese brand launched two laptops in its Mi series called the Mi Notebook 14 and Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition. The former is aimed at casual users while the latter comes with a premium design and more powerful specifications.

Now a new report by TechPP claims that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is working on RedmiBook lineup of budget and mid-range laptops for the Indian market. The devices will be priced cheaper the recent Mi Notebooks and cater to a different target audience.

Xiaomi to launch RedmiBook laptops in India

The report states that Xiaomi could launch the RedmiBook starting at Rs 20,000, going up to Rs 33,000 for the most expensive model. This hints that the laptops could be aimed at basic users, students and small businesses. The report adds that the RedmiBook lineup could be powered by Intel Core i3 processor as well as an older generation of Core i5. The Core i3 model could start below Rs 25,000, as per the report.

The laptops will be manufactured in India and will be different compared to their Chinese counterparts. The RedmiBook laptops will not feature a premium design like the Mi Notebooks. They are expected to pack less RAM and storage. Xiaomi is tipped to offer 8 to 10 hours of battery life with the RedmiBook range. Apart from this, the report doesn’t reveal any specifications about the upcoming RedmiBook laptops.

According to the report, Xiaomi is expected to launch RedmiBook laptops in India in mid-July, late July or around the Independence day in August. This is just a rumour as of now, and Xiaomi hasn’t revealed anything officially. However, with the launch of Mi Notebooks in the country, we can expect Redmi laptops to land here in the coming months.
