Reliance Jio Phone 5 in the works

According to the source, the Jio Phone 5, which is currently in the planning phase, will be launched as the Jio Phone Lite commercially. The smartphone is tipped to be priced lower than the first-generation model and will offer free calls to other Jio numbers. However, in order to use the internet, the users will have to purchase a data pack.

The Jio Phone Lite will reportedly come with WhatsApp and Facebook pre-installed, which means it will support 4G connectivity. This bit of information further confirms that the upcoming affordable Jio Phone Lite will also boot KaiOs out of the box. As of now, there’s no word on the specifications and features of the phone, but we can expect it to have an alphanumeric keypad and a smaller display.

Notably, Reliance Jio recently announced that it’s working with Google on developing an entry-level Android-based 5G and 4G smartphone. According to rumours, the Jio Phone 3 is expected to be an entry-level smartphone. If the new report is true, we can expect Jio to launch a couple of devices this yea. Notably, the last Jio Phone to be announced was the Jio Phone 2, launched back in July 2018.
