Today the entire nation observed “Janata Curfew” after PM Narendra Modi’s appeal to all citizens to stay indoors for the entire day on March 22nd. Recently, several regions including the capital have imposed a complete lockdown till March 31st to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Considering the fact that most professionals have been asked to work from home during this period, Reliance Jio has announced a new data pack. Aptly named ‘Work from home’ pack, it is already available for users to grab.
Reliance Jio ‘Work from home’ pack details
The new Work From Home pack is already live on the My Jio app and will set users back by Rs 251. For the price, users will get 2GB data every day and the validity of the pack is 51 days. This means users will get a total of 102GB data with the newest pack, which is a good amount for the price. Once the user has exhausted 100 percent of data for the day, they will be able to continue using data but at the reduced speed of 64 kbps. The reduced speed data doesn’t have any FUP and can be used as much as required. Additionally, this is a data-only pack, which means users will not receive any call or SMS benefits with the recharge. Interestingly, this pack is the same as the Cricket Pack, which featured an identical price, validity and data limit, and allowed users to watch live matches on JioTV for free.

Reliance Jio is not the first telecom operator to announce a work from home pack for subscribers amidst the lockdown. The state-owned BSNL and Hyderabad-based Act Fibernet have also announced special work from home plans for their users. BSNL has announced that its broadband services will be offered free of charge for a month to its existing broadband users. BSNL will offer 10Mbps speeds capped at 5GB a day and 1Mbps once the limit is exhausted. ACT Fibernet has also upgraded data speeds to 30Mbps for all its users till March 31st 2020 with no FUP at no additional cost. Existing users can log on to the ACT Fibernet app to avail the offer.
At times like this, it is heartening to see leading telecom operators coming forward to ease the work from home protocol for professionals in the country. Pricebaba advises its readers to take Coronavirus lockdown seriously and take the utmost care to stay safe.
