Reliance JioPhone is set to get a price hike of Rs 300 soon. According to 91mobiles, the first-generation JioPhone will once again be available for purchase in the country. The report notes that retailers now have enough stock, after struggling initially.
The Reliance JioPhone will be available at a retail price of Rs 999, which is a hike from the previous retail price of Rs 699. The official announcement about this price hike is expected to come in the coming days. The report also notes that the JioPhone will sell with a new Rs 125 recharge pack once the price hike becomes official and the 4G feature phone goes on sale.

The report citing sources notes that Reliance JioPhone will be available to consumers for Rs 1,124 including the recharge pack. It is not clear what caused Reliance to increase the price of its first-generation JioPhone. However, 91mobiles also got its hands on the retail packaging of the device, which will go on sale soon.
The retail box of the JioPhone listed all the key specifications and services of the 4G feature phone. The retail box reveals that Reliance JioPhone will now be powered by Qualcomm chipset. At the time of its launch, some JioPhone units were equipped with a Spreadtrum chipset. This retail box suggests that JioPhone will now be using a Qualcomm chipset only. To recall, Qualcomm Ventures had invested Rs 730 crores in Jio Platforms for a 0.15 percent stake to become its 12th investor.

Reliance JioPhone was first introduced in 2017 as a feature phone that supported 4G LTE networks. It sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage and a VGA camera. It runs KaiOS out of the box and supports apps including WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps and others. There is also a suite of Jio Apps for streaming content and music including JioTV, JioCinema, JioSaavn and others.
