Samsung expanded its wearables lineup by announcing two fitness trackers – the Galaxy Fit and Fit e. The latter is a cheaper variant with toned-down features. Both the fitness trackers are aimed at all fitness enthusiasts from casual runners to athletes.
The Galaxy Fit sports a full-color AMOLED display measuring 0.95-inches. The Galaxy Fit e has a smaller 0.76-inch PMOLED display. Both the trackers offer touch functionality. Design-wise, the fitness trackers flaunt a slim profile and look stylish. Both the Fit and Fit e are water resistant up to 5ATM. They are also equipped with military-grade MIL-STD 810G certification and can withstand harsh environments.
In terms of features, both the trackers automatically start tracking the user’s physical activity. Users can also select manually from a range of 90 different activities. The fitness trackers features a heart rate monitor and offers sleep tracking analysis. The band is also capable of showing notifications and information like alarms, calendar, weather etc. from a connected smartphone. Both the Galaxy Fit and Fit e run on Realtime OS and support Bluetooth connectivity.
The Galaxy Fit comes with 512KB internal RAM, 2048KB external RAM, and 32MB external ROM. The Fit e offers 128KB internal RAM and 4MB external ROM. The Galaxy Fit is powered by a 120mAh battery while the Fit e runs on a 70mAh battery unit. On the connectivity front, the former comes with HRM, accelerometer, and gyroscope. The Fit e lacks a gyroscope sensor.
Both the Galaxy Fitness trackers are compatible with Android and Apple devices running on Android 5.0 (with 1.5GB RAM) and iOS 9.0 or higher respectively.
Pricing & Availability:
The Galaxy Fit has been priced at $99 (~Rs 7,000) in the US and will go on sale from May 31st. It will be available in Black and Silver color models. There is no pricing information on Galaxy Fit e as of now. The Fit e will be available in Black, White and Yellow colours.
