Samsung Galaxy A2 Core Android Go Smartphone Granted Bluetooth Certification

On: March 27, 2019

Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy A70 mid-range Android smartphone. The company is set to unveil a few more Galaxy A-series smartphones at its upcoming event on April 10. Ahead of the launch event, the Galaxy A2 Core Android Go smartphone has bagged certification from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

Multiple Galaxy A2 Core Variants Certified by Bluetooth SIG

The Bluetooth SIG has certified the SM-A260F, SM-A260F_DS, SM-A260G, and SM-A260G_DS variants of the upcoming Galaxy A2 Core. However, the Bluetooth certification does not reveal anything much regarding the hardware specifications of the Galaxy A2 Core. It only confirms that the smartphone will have support for Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy and not the newer 5.0 standard.

Galaxy A2 Core Bluetooth Certification

Earlier this month, the Galaxy A2 Core had visited the US FCC, revealing a 4.96-inch screen size. Unlike the 2019 Galaxy A-series models, the A2 Core will not feature a ‘bezel-less’ design, thanks to its entry-level positioning. In addition to the display size, the FCC filings also revealed that the smartphone will have a 3.5W charger and come with an FM receiver. Under the hood, Galaxy A2 Core is expected to run on an Exynos 7870 chipset, clubbed with 1GB of RAM. As for storage, the Android Go smartphone is likely to include only 8GB of internal memory. Like other entry-level Android smartphones, the Galaxy A2 Core will only have a single camera at the rear. The resolution of the sensor, however, has not been confirmed yet.

On the software front, the Galaxy A2 Core will debut with the older Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) instead of Android Pie (Go Edition). While no specific launch date has been confirmed so far, the smartphone is expected to be made official soon. Apart from Bluetooth SIG and the US FCC, the Galaxy A2 Core has bagged Wi-Fi certification as well. In the Indian market, we expect the Galaxy A2 Core to be priced somewhere around INR 5,000.
