The Samsung Galaxy A22 4G and Galaxy A22 5G smartphones have launched. Positioned lower than the Galaxy A32 5G, which was announced earlier this year, the Galaxy A22 5G is Samsung’s most affordable 5G phone. While the A22 5G and its 4G variant have similar name and design, both phones are packed with different specs.
The Galaxy A22 5G is packed with a 90Hz LCD display and 48-megapixel triple cameras. On the other side, the Galaxy A22 4G features a 90Hz AMOLED panel and 48-megapixel triple cameras.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G specifications and features
The plastic-bodied Galaxy A22 5G gets a 6.6-inch LCD screen that has an Infinity-V notch design. It offers HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. For selfies and video calls, it is fitted with a front 8MP camera.
The square-shaped camera module on its back has a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an LED flash. It runs One UI based on Android 11.
While Samsung has not confirmed which processor powers the Galaxy A22 5G, several reports have revealed that it features the Dimensity 700 chip. The SoC will be coupled with up to 8GB of RAM. It offers up to 128GB of native storage and a microSD card slot for more storage. Other features that are available on the device include a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Dolby Atmos support.

The Galaxy A22 4G has a 6.4-inch screen with an Infinity-U notch and a plastic body. The AMOLED panel offers HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. For selfies, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel front camera.
The squarish camera unit on the backside of the A22 4G houses a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and PIS. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It also runs OneUI based on Android 11.
Again, the South Korean company has not revealed the processor of the Galaxy A22 4G. It can be said based on recent reports that it is fuelled by the Helio G80 chipset. The device will offer users up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of built-in storage. The other features that are made available on the Galaxy A22 4G are a microSD card slot, a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and support for Dolby Atmos.
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G and Galaxy A22 4G pricing and availability
The Galaxy A22 5G comes in multiple variants like 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and it comes in colours like Violet, Mint, White, and Gray. In Europe, the 64GB model is priced €229 (~Rs 20,300), whereas the 4GB+128GB costs €249 (~Rs 22,000)
On the other hand, the Galaxy A22 4G comes in three options such as 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM +128GB storage. However, there is no word on the pricing of these variants. When available, users will be able to purchase it in colours like Violet, Mint, White, and Black. Samsung is speculated to bring the Galaxy A22 series to India as both models have received BIS certifications in the country.
