Samsung Galaxy A22 5G spotted on BIS certification website, India launch expected soon

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G has passed BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification in India. It is listed on the website with model number SM-A226B/DS. This hints at the smartphone’s impending launch in the country. Last month, the 4G variant of the Galaxy A22 had also received BIS certification with model number SM-225F/DS.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G and A22 4G were also spotted in leaked renders earlier this month. Both variants have received multiple certifications in the past including Geekbench, Play Console listing, FCC and more.

The BIS certification of the Galaxy A22 5G doesn’t reveal any details about the smartphone. However, we can expect it to launch soon in the country along with the 4G variant. The 5G version is also expected to be the cheapest 5G compatible offering in Samsung’s Galaxy A-series.

The leaked renders of the Galaxy A22 5G revealed a 6.4-inch Infinity-V LCD display bearing an FHD+ resolution. The smartphone sports a square camera module housing 48MP + 5MP + 2MP sensors. Details about the front camera are not known yet. The Galaxy A22 5G is expected to come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. 

Under the hood, the Galaxy A22 5G will reportedly be equipped with a Dimensity 700 processor. It is expected to pack 6GB RAM and run Android 11 out of the box. The smartphone will draw its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 15W fast charging.
