Samsung had launched the Galaxy A5 (2016) and the Galaxy A7 (2016) in India around 8 months back. These were updates to the original Galaxy A5 and the A7 which debuted back in 2015. The A series is second only to the Galaxy flagships in the entire Samsung range. And now it looks like Samsung is already working on the next iteration in the series. We have spotted the Samsung A3 (2017) and the Samsung A5(2017) test units being imported to India.
The Galaxy A3 2017 would be the entry level offering for Samsung with the A5 2017 being the mid-level device. In terms of specifications, the new A3 would be a 4.7-inch device and bears an SM-A320F model number. The phone sports an octa-core chipset but the make isn’t known at the moment. The processor is clocked at 1.6GHz and is bundled with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone made an appearance on GeekBench clocking a score of 761 for single core and 4273 for Multi-core performance. The phone was running on Android Marshmallow at the time of testing.
The other smartphone spotted was the Galaxy A5 2017. It sports a 5.2 inch display and bears an SM-A520F model number. This smartphone also sports an octa-core chipset which is not known at the moment but it could be an Exynos chipset. The processor is clocked at 1.8GHz and is bundled with 3GB of RAM. The phone scored 817 for single core and 4692 points for multi-core performance on GeekBench 3.
While these devices are still undergoing testing a launch Samsung could announce their existence in December later this year. But these devices will only go on sale in the first quarter of 2017.
