Samsung recently launched the mid-range Galaxy A31 smartphone in India, featuring quad cameras on the rear panel and a beefy battery. The latest device joins the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 in the line-up in India, which were launched in January and February, respectively. The Galaxy A31 is now the most affordable offering in the new A-series lineup.

The Samsung Galaxy A31 is priced at Rs 21,999, and is available in a single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. The Samsung Galaxy M31 comes in three models – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB. The 6GB models are priced at Rs 16,999 and Rs 17,999 for 64GB and 128GB storage options, respectively. The newly-launched 8GB model is priced at Rs 19,999 and is yet to go on sale in the country.
The Samsung Galaxy A51, on the other hand, comes in two variants – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB. The base variant has been priced at Rs 25,250, whereas the 8GB model will set you back by Rs 27,999.

All three smartphones are equipped with identically-sized Super AMOLED displays. While the Galaxy A31 and Galaxy M31 feature Infinity-U displays with a waterdrop notch on the top, the Galaxy A51 ships with Infinity-O panel with a punch-hole cutout.
The Samsung Galaxy M31 ships with a 6.4-inch screen with full HD+ resolution. The Galaxy A31 gets an identical display, but with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy A51 has a slightly larger a 6.5-inch screen with full HD+ resolution, and also features the in-display fingerprint scanner.

Coming to the performance, the Samsung Galaxy A31 is the odd one out as it gets the MediaTek Helio P65 SoC ticking at its core. The Galaxy A31 comes in a single configuration of 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The other two handsets both get 2.3GHz Exynos 9611 octa-core processors, backed by ARM Mali G72 MP3 graphics. They both offer up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. All three models come with support for expandable storage through microSD cards up to 512GB.
In the software department, the Samsung Galaxy M31, Galaxy A31 and Galaxy A51 all boot One UI 2.0 based on Android 10.

All three smartphones feature quad-camera modules. The rectangular islands on the back feature an L-shaped lens placement, which is inverted for the Galaxy M31.
Starting with the odd one out, the Galaxy M31 comes with the 64MP primary lens, which is the highest resolution among the three. The primary camera is backed an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP depth sensor and 5MP macro lens.
The Galaxy A31 and Galaxy A51 feature 48MP primary sensors. The former gets a combination of 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, 5-megapixel depth and 5-megapixel macro lens. The Galaxy A51, on the other hand, features a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide shooter, a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens.
As for the selfie cameras, the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy M31 both feature powerful 32MP snappers on the front. The Galaxy A31 gets a 20MP unit.

All three Samsung Galaxy smartphones mentioned here are loaded and capable powerhouses with good cameras, battery and performance. However, one smartphone clearly emerges above the other two, which is the lone M-series device in the comparison. The Galaxy M31 offers a 64MP quad-camera, 32MP selfie shooter, 8GB variant and a mammoth 6,000mAh battery. Moreover, the Galaxy M31 is also the cheapest of the lot, which makes it a no-brainer in comparison.
