During the IFA 2020 tech show, Samsung announced the Galaxy A42 5G smartphone. At the time, the company had revealed only the key features of the smartphone and without mentioning an exact date, it stated that it will be available for purchase in Europe in November. Now, the South Korean company has revealed its entire specifications and has also confirmed its release date and price.

So far, the Galaxy A51 5G has been selling in the international markets as the most affordable 5G-ready Samsung phone. The newly announced the Galaxy A42 5G is now the cheapest 5G phone from the brand. The phone comes the new Snapdragon 750G chipset, 48-megapixel quad cameras and a unique rear panel design.

The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G has a 6.6-inch Super-AMOLED display with an Infinity-U notch design. It produces full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen is embedded with a fingerprint scanner.
The Snapdragon 750G, which also fuels the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G is present at the helm of the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G. It comes with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and internal storage of 128GB. There is a dedicated microSD card slot on the device for expanding the storage further.
The front notch has a 20-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. The square-shaped camera module on the rear side of the device has a 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
The Galaxy A52 5G has a 5,000mA battery with 15W fast charging support. The handset runs One UI 2.2 based on Android 10. The rear shell of the device features a layered gradient pattern.

The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G carries a price tag of £349 (~Rs 33,400) in the UK for the 4GB RAM variant. The South Korean company is yet to reveal the pricing of the 6GB RAM variant. The handset will be available for purchase in the UK from November 6th and it can be bought in three colours such as Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White, and Prism Dot Grey. There is no word on whether the Galaxy A42 5G will be made available in India.
