After debuting the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ with Infinity Display design in December 2017, Samsung has today announced the arrival of the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ smartphones through a press release. The Galaxy A6 duo also feature Infinity Display and are pre-loaded with the Android 8.0 Oreo OS. The A6 and A6+ phones are also blessed with stellar cameras.
Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ Specifications and Features
The Samsung Galaxy A6 is fitted with a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 along with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1480 pixels. The metal unibody chassis of A6 measures 149.9 x 70.8 x 7.7 mm. It features unique looking u-shaped antenna bands on the top and bottom portions of the back panel.
The Galaxy A6 is powered by the Exynos 7870 chipset’s 1.6 GHz octa-core processor. The handset comes in two variants such as 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. For storing more content, the A6 features a dedicated microSD card slot.
When it comes to photography, the Galaxy A6 offers its users with dual-tone LED and autofocus enabled 16-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture. It has a fixed focus selfie camera of 16-megapixel with f/1.9 aperture that comes with a dedicated LED flash. The handset is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy A6+ features the same stylish metallic chassis as the smaller A6. The A6+ that measures 160.2 x 75.7 x 7.9 mm houses a large-sized 6.1-inch S-AMOLED screen that delivers 18.5:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels.
The Snapdragon 450 is present under the hood of the Galaxy A6+. Like the A6, its larger sibling can be availed in 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM models. It also features a microSD card slot.
The Galaxy A6+ has a dual camera setup on its back panel. It comprises of a 16-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and autofocus feature. It is assisted by a second 5-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture. It offers a photography mode called Live Focus that can be found on flagship phones like Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 8. Through Live Focus, users can capture amazing bokeh shots by modifying the field of depth before or after snapping a photo. The A6+ has a fixed focus selfie snapper of 24-megapixel that comes with features like f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. It receives power from a 3,500mAh battery.
The Galaxy A6 and A6+ phones have rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. These devices are also equipped with facial recognition feature through the front camera. The other features that are available on the Galaxy A6 duo include Always on Display, Bixby Home, Bixby Vision, Bixby Reminder, App Pair and Samsung Pay. The connectivity features that can be found on the A6 and A6+ include 4G VoLTE through Cat. 6 LTE modem that supports 2CA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC (region specific), microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy A6 duo will be available in colors like black, blue, gold and lavender.
Galaxy A6 and A6+ Pricing and Availability
Samsung’s press release for Galaxy A6 and A6+ does not contain any information on their pricing. What is known is that the A6 duo will be made available in select markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Later, both phones will be also hitting other markets like South Korea, Africa and China.
