After a lot of leaks and speculations, South Korean giant Samsung has launched the Galaxy A7 (2018). The device is the latest addition in Samsung’s mid-range portfolio. It is the first smartphone in company’s line-up to come with a triple rear camera setup. Interestingly, this feature has made its way to the mid-range A-series before the brand’s flagships. Let’s delve into the technical specifications of this device:

On the display front, the Galaxy A7 (2018) boasts a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. Design-wise, the device sports a glass and metal unibody. There is a side mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button, similar to what we saw on the Galaxy J6+. The back of the phone has a vertically stacked rear camera setup in the top left corner similar to the iPhone XS and Huawei P20 Pro. The A7(2018) will be available in four color variants i.e. Black, Blue, Gold and Pink.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A7 (2018) is powered by an unnamed 2.2GHz octa-core processor. The device will be available in three memory configurations i.e. 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB. For additional storage, the memory can be expanded up to 512GB via microSD card slot.

The main highlight of the Galaxy A7 (2018) is its triple rear camera setup. It comprises of a 24MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. A 24MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture is fitted on the front with an adjustable LED flash for clicking selfies. Camera features like Selfie focus, Pro lighting mode and AR emoji are present on this phone. There is also Screen Optimiser feature from Galaxy Note 9 that identifies the subject and adjusts the color, contrasts and brightness to optimise the image quality.

The Galaxy A7(2018) draws its power from a 3300 mAh battery. Out of the box the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. Software features include Dolby Atmos for headphones, Bluetooth audio and Samsung Pay. The device also supports Bixby but without a dedicated button for the assistant. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS & NFC.

Pricing & Availability:

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) will be made available in European and Asian markets starting this fall and will expand to additional markets in the near future. As of now, there is no word on the price of the device, but we expect it to cost around Rs 30,000. Additionally, Samsung is preparing to hold a press conference on October 11th where it could reveal the price of the A7 (2018) and launch another smartphone alongside.
