A month after the global unveiling, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy A8+ (2018) in India. The phone was launched on Wednesday at an event held in New Delhi, India. The A8+ will be an Amazon exclusive phone and is priced at Rs. 32,990. At this price, it competes with the likes of OnePlus 5T and Honor View 10. Let’s see what the newly launched phone has to offer.
The Galaxy A8+ comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display bearing a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. It has a Super AMOLED display panel with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, which means that this is a bezel-less phone. Samsung’s displays are usually good and this phone shall be no exception. It is also IP68 certified which makes the phone water and dust resistant.
Surprisingly this phone just has a single rear camera as opposed to a dual-camera setup like most phones in this price range. The rear camera is a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. However, on the front, it has two cameras which are capable of clicking ‘portrait-mode’ selfies. You can also adjust the bokeh level as per your preference. One of the selfie cameras is a fixed focus 16-megapixel sensor whereas the other one is an 8-megapixel camera, both of them have an f/1.9 aperture. Given the smaller aperture, you can expect better low-light pictures from both, rear and front cameras.
Talking of the performance, the A8+ is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7885 chipset that is clocked at 2.2GHz. The processor is coupled with a massive 6GB of RAM. In terms of capacity, the phone has 64GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. There is only one variant of this phone, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage.
On the battery front, the phone has a 3500mAh unit which can last you for about a day. In terms of connectivity, it has all the basic options including 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type-C port.
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) will go on sale starting January 20th on Amazon India.
