A leaked video that recently surfaced has shed light on what we can expect from the Samsung Galaxy A8. It is the top-end variant in the A-series of smartphones by Samsung. From the video, we can see that the phone has borrowed many key features from the Galaxy S8, the brand’s 2017 flagship.

On the specifications front, the phone is expected to be powered by the octa-core Exynos 7885 processor ticking at 2.2Ghz. The phone will also pack in a massive 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone will support expansion to its internal memory up to 256GB through its onboard microSD card slot.
Coming to first major highlight, the display on the front. The phone will feature a 6-inch Full HD+ display having a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The screen is also expected to be layered with 2.5D glass. The build quality of the phone will be similar to other flagship phones by the company rocking a metal + glass combination. It will also bear an IP68 certification for being waterproof.

Coming to the optics on this device, Samsung is not fitting this phone with dual rear cameras but instead it will have a single 16-megapixel primary camera. However, on the front, things are a bit different with the phone as it has two selfie cameras. The front camera setup will comprise of a 16-megapixel fixed focus sensor having an aperture of f/1.9 and a secondary 8-megapixel sensor with the same aperture. With the f/1.9 aperture on both the front lenses, Samsung is looking to improve not only on the quality of selfie images but also their low-light performance.
As per the video, the phone not only borrows design elements from the Galaxy S8 but also improves on some of its shortcomings. The major complaint with the S8 and the Note 8 was the awkwardly placed fingerprint sensor. That apparently is not the case with the A8(2018). The fingerprint sensor has been placed below the camera sensor where it will be more reachable.
As far as the battery goes, the phone will draw power from a 3,500 mAh unit located under its hood. The phone is also expected to come with Samsung’s fast charging technology to quickly charge the phone up. Another noteworthy feature that is expected to come with this phone is the support for Samsung Pay which implies that the phone will also pack in an NFC sensor.
As per the rollout schedule observed in the past, the A-series phones are usually launched in the months of December and January. With that in mind, we can expect the phone to be released very soon. Previously, the A8 smartphones have been launched at the sub Rs. 30,000 range and we can expect this phone to be launched in the same range.
