Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) With Quad Rear Cameras Launched In India

Samsung launched the Galaxy A9 (2018) in Malaysia last month. Now, the device with an industry-first quad camera setup has made its way to India. The company has announced the device at an event held in Gurugram today. Read on for the technical specifications, pricing and availability of the Galaxy A9 (2018).

Display & Design:

Beginning with the display, the Galaxy A9 (2018) rocks a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen. The device sports an 18.5:9 Infinity display like most Samsung phones. Design-wise, the Galaxy A9 (2018) flaunts a glass back that feels premium. The quad-camera setup is vertically stacked at the top left corner. There is a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back for unlocking the device. The Bixby button is located on the left side, while the volume and power buttons are on the right. The Galaxy A9 (2018) ships in three gradient color options i.e. Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, Bubblegum Pink.


The camera is the obvious highlight of the Galaxy A9 (2018). The device features four camera sensors comprising of an 8MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.4 aperture, a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a 24MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Upfront, Samsung has fitted an f/2.0 24MP sensor for clicking selfies and unlocking the device through face unlock. The camera app is loaded with various features like Live focus, Beauty, Super slow-mo, and Screen optimiser.

Hardware & OS:

Under the hood, the Galaxy A9 (2018) houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor. It is paired with an Adreno 512 GPU and comes in two RAM configurations of 6GB and 8GB. Both the variants offer 128GB of internal storage with an option to expand this up to 512GB via a microSD card slot. On the software front, the Galaxy A9 (2018) runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Battery & Connectivity:

The Galaxy A9 (2018) packs a 3,800mAh battery unit with adaptive fast charging support. The device features a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity-wise, the A9 (2018) offers dual-SIM support. All the basic connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC are supported on the device.

Pricing & Availability:

Coming to the pricing, the base variant of the Galaxy A9 (2018) will cost users Rs 36,999. The 8GB variant bears a higher price tag of Rs 39,999.  The device will be available across e-commerce platforms Airtel store, Paytm mall, Samsung’s online shop, Amazon and Flipkart. It will also be available in offline retail stores. Users can pre-book the device starting today, with availability starting from November 28th.
