Samsung Galaxy J4+ Spotted on Geekbench Running Android Pie, Suggests On-Time Rollout

Last month, the budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy J4 Android smartphone had been certified with Android Pie by the Wi-Fi Alliance, alongside the Galaxy J2 Core. The Galaxy J4+ has now appeared on the Geekbench database running on Android 9.0 Pie.

Samsung Galaxy J4+ Android Pie Update Expected to Roll Out in May

The SM-J415F variant of the Galaxy J4+ caught on AnTuTu achieved 653 points in the single-core test and 1,814 points in the multi-core test. Both the single-core and multi-core benchmark scores are on par with the average scores achieved by the smartphone on Geekbench running on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. While the listing may suggest that the stable update for the Galaxy J4+ is nearly ready to be rolled out, owners of the budget Android smartphone may have to wait for at least two more months for it to be actually rolled out.

Going by the latest Android Pie update roadmap released by Samsung, the Galaxy J4+ will be receiving the stable update only in May. The standard Galaxy J4, however, is planned to be updated to Android 9.0 Pie starting next month. In addition to bumping up the Android version to 9.0, the upcoming update is also expected to bring Samsung’s new One UI to the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J4 smartphones. Since these are budget smartphones, the Android Pie update will likely be the first as well as the last major OS upgrade that they will receive. Samsung rolls out two major OS upgrades only to select mid-range and flagship models.

Samsung launched the Galaxy J4+ in October last year with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UX out of the box. It sports a 6.0-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz. Some of its other key features include a 13MP rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture, 5MP selfie camera, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3300mAh capacity battery.
