Samsung is reportedly working on two new devices, namely the Galaxy J6 Prime and Galaxy J4 Prime. The dedicated pages for these devices had briefly appeared on the Vietnamese version of Samsung’s website. Since they are “Prime” variants, they are expected to sport slightly better specs than the Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6 that were recently released in India. Fresh renders showing a 360-view of the upcoming Galaxy J6 Prime have been shared by 91Mobiles in partnership with popular tipster @OnLeaks. The new leak also spills some information on its key specs.
The renders of the Galaxy J6 Prime reveal that it will be sporting an Infinity Display design like the Galaxy J6. The side bezels of the phone appear narrow and the top bezel houses an earpiece and a front-facing camera with its dedicated LED flash.
The Galaxy J6 features a single camera on its back panel. However, the new renders reveal that the Galaxy J6 Prime will be arriving with a vertically arranged dual camera setup. The renders also show that the J6 Prime features a fingerprint sensor on the right edge, alongside a speaker grille.
The volume up and down buttons are placed on the left side of the device. A microUSB port and a 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the bottom edge of the phone. There is no confirmation on whether the handset features a polycarbonate or metallic chassis. Since the J6 sports a plastic rear, it is likely that the J6 Prime’s rear shell could be made out of the same material.
@OnLeaks has also shared some information on the specifications of the Galaxy J6 Prime. The handset measures 161.6 x 77 x 8.2mm and it houses a 6-inch display. The screen is expected to carry support for an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and deliver HD+ resolution.
Rumors suggest that instead of the Exynos 7870 SoC that drives the Galaxy J6, the Prime model could be fueled by Snapdragon 450. The J6 Prime may arrive in variants like 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. For more storage, it is likely to feature a microSD card slot. There are no details available on the battery capacity and camera configurations of the Galaxy J6 Prime. The report also claims that the handset may debut as Galaxy J6 Plus in some markets.
The 32 GB and 64 GB Galaxy J6 are selling in India with respective price tags of Rs. 12,990 and Rs. 14,990. The J6 Prime may carry a costlier price tag, but might still be the cheapest dual camera Samsung phone in the country.
