Last month, Samsung had launched the Galaxy J8 smartphone along with the Galaxy J6 smartphone in India. Starting from today, the Galaxy J8 is available for buying with a price tag of Rs. 18,990. It borrows Infinity Display design that are found on premium Galaxy S and Note series smartphones from the company. It features dual rear cameras and comes loaded with the Android Oreo OS.

The 6-inch Super AMOLED display available on the Galaxy J8 produces HD+ resolution. The elongated display offers an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The handset wears a polycarbonate chassis with a premium finish.
The modest Snapdragon 450 is present under the hood of the smartphone along with 4 GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 64 GB and it features a microSD card for more storage. The backside of the phone features a fingerprint scanner. The handset also supports face unlock through the front camera.
The vertical dual camera that is flanked on the rear of the Samsung Galaxy J8 includes an f/1.7 aperture 16-megapixel primary camera and an f/1.9 aperture 5-megapixel depth sensor. The dual-tone LED enabled dual camera is equipped with Live Focus function that makes it possible to capture amazing photos by focusing more on the foreground and blurring the background. Features like Background Blur Shape, Portrait Dolly, and Portrait Backdrop are also available on the Galaxy J8 for adding different background effects to an image. A 16-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture resides on the frontside of the phone.
The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo that is overlaid with Samsung Experience UI. The Chat Over Video is a feature like Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode that allow Galaxy J8 users to chat while watching videos. Through Samsung Mall feature, users can make use of the AI prowess of the camera to snap photos of an item and see its listings with different online retailers. The Samsung Mall is nothing but a rebranded version of Bixby Vision that can be found on recent Galaxy S9, S9+ and Note 8 smartphones in the U.S.
The performance of the smartphone is bolstered by a 3,500mAh battery. There is no fast charging feature on the phone.

The Galaxy J8 can be bought for Rs. 18,990. The handset is available in colors like Black, Blue and Gold. It can be availed through online channels like Samsung’s e-shop, Paytm, Flipkart and Amazon India as well as through offline retailers. Customers who purchase the Galaxy J8 through ICICI debit or credit cards or Paytm Mall can take advantage of Rs. 2,000 cash back offer. Also, people who buy the smartphone before July 31 qualify for one-time free screen replacement from the company.
