Samsung has launched the Galaxy M01s, which is an upgraded variant of the Galaxy M01 announced last month. The new model comes with a more powerful processor and a larger display compared to the Galaxy M01. Samsung has priced the latest Galaxy M-series offering under Rs 10,000. With this pricing, the brand has placed the Galaxy M01s in the ultra-competitive segment, where there are several options from Xiaomi and Realme to choose from.

The main competitors to the newly launched Samsung Galaxy M01s are the Realme Narzo 10A and Redmi 8 in this price segment. The Samsung Galaxy M01s has been launched in a single variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 9,999 and is available from Samsung’s offline stores, Samsung.com, and leading e-commerce portals.

The Redmi 8 was launched in two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB, with a price tag of Rs 7,999 and Rs 8,999, respectively. However, currently only the 4GB + 64GB variant is available on the official Mi online store. The handset is retailing for Rs 9,799 presently.

Lastly, the Realme Narzo 10A is available in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants. They are retailing at Rs 8,999 and Rs 9,999, respectively. The Realme Narzo 10A is available via realme.com and Flipkart.

Coming to the displays, the Samsung Galaxy M01s and Redmi 8 are both equipped with a 6.2-inch waterdrop notch screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9. Additionally, both smartphones have Corning Gorilla Glass protection, but while the Redmi 8 has Gorilla Glass 5, the Galaxy M01s features the third generation Gorilla Glass 3. Both smartphones offer HD+ screen resolution.

The Realme Narzo 10A, on the other hand, comes with a larger 6.5-inch 20:9 display with HD+ resolution. The Narzo 10A also has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches.

Speaking of the performance, the latest Samsung Galaxy M01s comes with the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor ticking at its core. As mentioned before, Samsung is only offering the smartphone in a single configuration with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

The Redmi 8 offers the same configuration as well as an additional 4GB + 64GB variant. Powering the smartphone is the Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 439 processor. The Realme Narzo 10A once again emerges victorious here as offers the same two configurations as Redmi 8 but with a more powerful gaming processor – the MediaTek Helio G70.

In terms of software, the Samsung Galaxy M01s boots the Android 10-based One UI out of the box. The Realme Narzo 10A runs Realme UI based on Android 10 as well. The Redmi 8 is an odd one out, here as it ships with MIUI 10 interface based on the dated Android 9 Pie. However, the brand has since rolled out MIUI 11 based on Android 10 for the smartphone.

Coming to the optics department, all three smartphones are more or less identical. The Redmi 8 is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the back with 12-megapixel primary camera backed by a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor. The Samsung Galaxy M01s also features dual cameras, but with a 13-megapixel primary lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Realme Narzo 10A wins the round with 12-megapixel primary camera backed by a 2-megapixel depth camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

In the front, the Samsung Galaxy M01s and Realme Narzo 10A get 5-megapixel cameras for selfies. However, the Redmi 8 offers a higher resolution 8-megapixel selfie snapper and thus bags this round.
