Samsung Galaxy M30 Gets Wi-Fi Certified

On: February 1, 2019

Earlier this week, Samsung introduced its very first Galaxy M-series smartphones: Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20. The rumored Galaxy M30 was not unveiled at the launch event in India. However, that does not mean the smartphone will not be launched anytime soon. The unannounced Galaxy M30 has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which suggests it could possibly be released in select markets soon.

Samsung Galaxy M30 SM-M305F/DS Variant Receives Wi-Fi Certification

The SM-M305F/DS Wi-Fi certification reveals the upcoming Galaxy M-series smartphone will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band support. Both the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, in comparison, support the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n standards. While this may suggest the Galaxy M30 will be powered by a different chipset, we still think there is a good chance that it will not. Even though the Galaxy M20 does not support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, it should be noted that the Exynos 7904 chipset does support the newer Wi-Fi standard. In terms of software, the Wi-Fi certification confirms the Galaxy M30 will debut with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.5 out of the box. However, we expect it to receive the Android 9.0 Pie update before the Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones.

As for the hardware specifications, Galaxy M30 is expected to be similar to the Galaxy M20 in most areas. Like the Galaxy M20, the M30 is rumored to sport a 6.3-inch Infinity-V display with Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone may be powered by the same Exynos 7904 chipset under the hood, coupled with up to 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone is likely to be available with 64GB of internal storage and a dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion. In the camera department, rumors suggest the M30 will have a similar 13MP + 5MP dual-camera setup as the Galaxy M20 on the back but the front-facing camera will be a more impressive 16MP unit. Keeping the lights on will be a massive 5000mAh capacity non-removable battery with fast charging support.
