Samsung Galaxy M31s specifications tipped ahead of launch: Exynos 9611, 8GB RAM and more

Samsung is scheduled to launch the Galaxy M31s in India on July 30th. It will arrive as the successor to last year’s M30s with significant upgrades. The upcoming offering will also pack slight upgrades compared to the Galaxy M31 launched in February this year. The Galaxy M31s will be the fifth 2020 M-series smartphone from the South Korean brand.

Now, ahead of launch, tipster Ishan Agarwal has revealed the spec sheet of the Galaxy M31s. The smartphone will retain the processor and battery capacity from its predecessor and the M31. The Amazon listing had already revealed key features including display, fast charging and camera capabilities.

According to Agarwal, the Galaxy M31s will sport a 6.5-inch sAMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout. It will offer FHD+ resolution with a pixel density of 407ppi. The display is surrounded by thin bezels and slightly thicker chin. There is no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, indicating that the M31s could be the first M-series smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The smartphone will be available in Mirage Black and Mirage Blue colour options. 

The Galaxy M31s will come with a 64MP quad-camera setup inside a rectangular module. The main sensor will be reportedly accompanied by a 12MP f/2.2. ultra-wide lens, a 5MP f/2.4 depth unit and another 5MP f/2.4 macro shooter. In the front, the smartphone will feature a 32MP f/2.2 selfie snapper. The smartphone will come with a ‘Single Take’ camera mode allowing users to capture multiple shots and videos by pressing the shutter button once. 

Under the hood, the Galaxy M31s will be equipped with an Exynos 9611 processor which powers the M30s and M31. It will be offered in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB RAM and storage configurations. The device will draw its power from a massive 6,000mAh battery with upgraded 25W fast charging support.

The Galaxy M31s will reportedly be priced higher than the M31. It is tipped to cost Rs 20,000. The Galaxy M31 currently retails at Rs 17,499. We will know more at the launch event on July 30th.
