Samsung has announced the latest addition to its M-series in India, the Galaxy M40. Prior to launch, key specs were already revealed in teasers and leaks. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications below:
Display & Design:
The Galaxy M40 sports a 6.3-inch super AMOLED screen bearing full HD+ resolution. It features a punch hole display (Samsung calls it Infinity-O) on the upper left edge that accommodates the front camera. The display translates to 403ppi pixel density. On the flip side, the device houses a triple camera setup on the top left corner. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner in the center with Samsung branding below it. On the audio front, the phone ditches speakers in favor of Screen Sound technology, where the display acts as a speaker. The Galaxy M40 can be availed in Midnight Blue and Seawater Blue colour options.
Camera:
On the imaging front, the M40 is equipped with a triple rear camera module. It consists of a 32MP main sensor, a 5MP secondary depth camera and an 8MP telephoto lens. In the front, the device is fitted with a 16MP snapper for selfies. The camera comes with various modes like Portrait mode, live focus, slow-mo, and hyperlapse.
Hardware, OS & Battery:
In terms of hardware, the Galaxy M40 houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core chipset. It is paired with 6GB RAM. The device offers 128GB onboard storage which can be expanded via microSD card. On the software front, the M40 is the first device in M-series to run on Android 9 Pie with OneUI on the top. It features a dedicated button to trigger Bixby voice assistant. The smartphone draws its power from a 3,500mAh battery unit with support for 15W fast charging.
Connectivity-wise, the Galaxy M40 features a USB-C port and functions as a dual SIM smartphone. The M40 is the first Samsung device in India to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, Samsung is softening the blow by bundling USB Type-C headphones in the box.
Pricing & Availability:
Samsung has priced the Galaxy M40 at Rs 19,990. It is the first mid-range device to come with a punch hole display. The smartphone will go on sale from June 18th at 12pm on Amazon and Samsung’s online store.
At this price, the Galaxy M40 will compete against the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 and Vivo V15.
