On: December 27, 2019

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series was launched earlier in 2019 and now, the South Korean giant is reportedly all set to introduce a new addition to the lineup. The company is also likely to launch a Lite variant of the Galaxy S10. The phones are speculated to launch in January 2020 and we’ve already seen multiple leaks of the devices. Recently, press renders of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite surfaced on a German website and they’ve left little to the imagination. In fact, the upcoming phone’s price has also been revealed in various reports. It is expected to be the most affordable phone of the Galaxy Note 10 series due to its ‘older’ processor and lack of wireless charging. That being said, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is equipped with an S-Pen stylus, triple rear camera setup and a bigger battery unit. Display and design

The model number of the upcoming device is SM-N770F, according to rumours. The phone would sport an Infinity-O screen and a punch-hole selfie snapper on the top, just like the Galaxy Note 10. On the rear panel, one can expect a triple camera configuration accompanied by an LED flash arranged inside a square-shaped design. The phone is likely to arrive in three shades.

The display on Galaxy Note 10 Lite is rumoured to be a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with full-HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The panel would be laced with a pixel density of 398ppi and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone has been revealed to lack bezels and house an HDR compliant display panel. The panel is also rumoured to house over 16 million colours and blue filter. The phone will reportedly measure 8.7mm in thickness and weigh 198g.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite is a toned-down version of the Galaxy Note 10. As a result, it is expected to rely on Samsung Exynos 9810 octa-core processor which debuted in 2018 with the Samsung Galaxy S9 series.  The 10nm processor is clocked at 2.7GHz and due to its presence, the upcoming phone is likely to be a bit more affordable than the original Galaxy Note 10 that houses the Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor.

The processor has been revealed to work in association with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The latter would be expandable by up to 512GB via a microSD card. Like the rest of the Galaxy Note 10 models, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite will also ship with an S-Pen Stylus. In addition to this, the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack is also expected on this device which means that it will work with regular earphones. This feature might sway more consumers in favour of the Lite variant as the original Galaxy Note 10 lacks the headphone jack.

As mentioned above, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is likely to sport a triple camera setup arranged in a square-shaped design. The primary sensor on the phone is revealed to be a 12MP lens with f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel autofocus. This sensor is likely to be supported by a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 2x optical zoom, and a 12MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture. In retrospect, one can note that the Galaxy Note 10 featured a 12MP + 12MP + 16MP rear camera setup which means that the Lite version is not far behind in terms of camera configuration.

For selfies and video calling, the Galaxy Note 10 Lite will allegedly house a 32MP snapper with an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, motion detection, voice control and front flash. The selfie camera on the Galaxy Note 10 is a 10MP sensor and it would be interesting to see if the Lite version can provide enhanced imaging quality with higher megapixels. Consumers can expect to record Ultra HD 4K videos at 60fps along with a Super Slow Motion mode. However, word has not surfaced about the presence or absence of an image stabiliser.

Software and battery

The Galaxy Note 10 Lite is likely to run Android 10 based One UI 2.0 out of the box. Along with this, the device is expected to house a 4,500mAh battery unit that will be a considerable upgrade to the rest of Galaxy Note 10 series. It will also support 25W Fast Charging along with USB Type-C, if reports are to be believed. However, the device is likely to launch without support for wireless charging which can help the company’s cause of making it more affordable.

Other features

The Note 10 Lite will offer connectivity features like Wi-Fi AC (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Wi-Fi direct, Smart View, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0. The S-Pen stylus would feature support for Bluetooth 5.0 according to recent reports. Additionally, the S-pen stylus has been revealed to have 4,096 pressure levels and features like express notes, animated messages, intelligent selection and translation function. Sensors on the smartphone include an accelerometer, barometer, brightness sensor, compass, proximity detection and gyroscope. For safety, the device will offer an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, Knox 3.4.1, secure folder and a Face Recognition feature.

Earlier, the device was rumoured to launch for €630. However, this speculation has been debunked now and the Galaxy Note 10 Lite is expected to launch with a price tag of €609 (~Rs 48,000). If this price turns out to he device would become the most affordable model of the series. Even if the processor is two years old, it is still a powerfuli6 SoC. Moreover, the phone has been leaked to show three shades – Aura Black, Aura Red, and Aura Glowpress. The Aura Glowpress is expected to come with a gradient finish. The rumour mill expects the phone to be available from January 10th, 2020 in European markets. Information about the device’s India launch hasn’t been made public yet.
