Samsung announced the On series last year with the On5 and On7. The two devices were really popular in the budget category and since the launch have been a real hit in the Indian market. Such has been the popularity that Samsung decided to bring the On5 Pro and On7 Pro very recently. However, other than the minor upgrade with the Pro versions, Samsung has also been working on the refresh of the On line of devices, with the Galaxy On7 (2016) variant now spotted on Geekbench.
According to Sammobile, the Indian variant of the On7 (2016) will bear the model number SM-G610F and come with Exynos 7870 octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM. The same model was caught on Geekbench. There is apparently another model in the works, a Snapdragon 625 version, which will be announced only in China and not in India. Other than the RAM and the processor what is also known about the phone is that it may actually come with a fingerprint scanner. This would make the On7 (2016) a fairly unique device as currently in the market, no budget Android phone below the price of Rs 15,000 comes with a fingerprint scanner.
You have to perhaps look at the devices in the A Series to have phones with fingerprint scanner. With devices like the Redmi Note 3 and the LeEco Le 2, all priced at well below the Rs 15,000 mark and sporting a fingerprint scanner, it looks like Samsung is finally catching up. The report of the fingerprint scanner being there, obviously does not come from the Geekbench listing, but from Zauba. It is listed on Zauba, a site that keeps track of goods being imported in the country, that there has been an import for “fingerprint unit” for a device with the model number SM-G610F for testing purposes.
