Samsung Reportedly Launching New Galaxy R-Series With Triple Cameras and 5G Support

Samsung introduced its refreshed Galaxy A-series smartphones this year. Now the South Korean company is tipped to unveil a brand new lineup called the Galaxy R series. Earlier, reports claimed that Samsung was testing a 5G phone codenamed SM-A90X in its home country, which was speculated to be the Galaxy A90. This device might instead be launched under the new R series.

According to reliable tipster OnLeaks, the SM-A90X will be a part of the new Galaxy R series instead. The series is expected to launch with two models, both of them with large displays and triple camera setups. One of the devices is also tipped to come with support for 5G connectivity while the other is expected to have a unique camera feature. Samsung had announced the Galaxy A80 with a rotating camera earlier this year. It is still not known whether the upcoming SM-A90X will sport a pop-up design, slide-out module, or a conventional layout.

Samsung’s new phone may sport an FHD+ display with an AMOLED panel on the top. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 7xx chipset coupled with up to 8GB RAM and run Android Pie with OneUI layered on the top. Additionally, the smartphone may also come with 45W charging support.

There is no official word on the Galaxy R series. Pricing and specifications are unknown at the moment but are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. Samsung already has a flagship Galaxy S series, mid-range Galaxy A series and budget Galaxy M series. So the new lineup may fall between the A-series and S-series. Also if the rumors are true, the R-series would be the first mid-range smartphone with 5G support.

In other news, Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy A80 in India. However, the official launch date has not been revealed by the company yet.
