According to the publication, the Galaxy S11 series is likely to be revealed on February 18th, which is just five days before MWC 2020 kicks off. This gives Samsung a bold time frame to showcase the device globally. The strategy is like the Galaxy S10 launch in 2019 when Samsung was the sole manufacturer to unveil a flagship smartphone just four days before MWC.

Samsung Galaxy S11 Specifications and features

The Galaxy S11 is likely to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 865 SoC in markets like North America and the Exynos 9830 chipset in other markets like India. The device is likely to sport 8GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage on the base variant, while the top-of-the-line model is likely to feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Samsung is also rumored to launch a special edition with 1TB of internal storage.

A recent leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S11 could feature a 108-megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom. The smartphone could flaunt a periscope-like setup like the OPPO Reno’s 10x Zoom edition. The 108-megapixel lens is slated to be paired with a 1/1.33-inch sensor that allows more light to enter than smaller sensors. It will assist in better low-light imaging. According to the notable gadget tipster IceUniverse, Samsung is developing its own edition of the Deep Fusion technology to rival the iPhone 11 Pro. This will allow the S11 to capture several images at once and select the one with more clarity, color, exposure and white balance.

The Galaxy S11 is likely to miss out on the 3.5mm audio jack like the recent flagship phones from the South Korean company. The smartphone is slated to feature an improved ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner with a larger detection surface for quicker response than its predecessor. The firm is reportedly working on four variants of the Galaxy S11. While three of the devices support 5G, a budget-focused model called the Galaxy S11e is likely to work on the 4G LTE networks. This variant is likely to be limited to a few markets.

In terms of design attributes, the Galaxy S11 is likely to sport smaller bezels and a punch-hole Infinity-O display to house the front camera. While the Galaxy S11e is likely to get a triple-camera setup, the Galaxy S11 and the S11+ are likely to get four rear cameras. Additional features might include a miniaturized spectrometer that will make it possible to point the camera at any fruit and instantly view its nutritional properties. One can also use this feature to determine the moisture and oil levels on your skin.

Samsung is also rumored to be working on a second sensor that can determine the type of drink that one is having and the volume of alcohol present. The Galaxy S11 will run on the Android 10 based One UI 2.1. The device will likely feature 45W fast charging with support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
