The Olympic games are scheduled to take place from July-August this year in Japan. South Korean brand Samsung is the official partner of the upcoming sporting event. The company will be issuing a special edition of its current flagship to all the participating athletes free of charge. Now, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition in Matte Gold colour in partnership with local carrier NTT Docomo. The smartphone will also be available for purchase for end customers. It’s worth noting that the Olympic Games might be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Olympic Edition S20+ 5G features a Gold colour finish with Docomo branding in the middle. The words Galaxy and ‘Tokyo 2020’ are printed at the bottom of the device along with the official Olympic logo. Apart from design, the special edition smartphone is equipped with the same specifications as the standard S20+. However, the Olympic Edition comes in only a 12GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option. It is priced at JPY 114,840 (~Rs 79,103) which is slightly higher than the standard model. Interested buyers can pre-order the Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition from Docomo’s website with shipments from June. The regular S20+ 5G will start shipping from May.
Galaxy S20+ 5G specifications and features
The S20+ 5G features a 6.7-inch sAMOLED display bearing an QHD+ resolution. There is a punch-hole selfie camera that houses a 10MP sensor. The phone offers an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S20+ 5G is equipped with Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with 12GB RAM. It can be availed in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options.
On the imaging front, the Galaxy S20+ 5G sports quad rear camera comprising of a 64MP + 12MP +12MP + ToF sensors. The device features Super Space Zoom tech, 30x zooming capabilities and 8K video recording. The Galaxy S20+ draws its power from a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 25W fast wired and 15W wireless charging. It also offers 9W reverse wireless charging.
