Samsung Galaxy S20 series registrations begin ahead of February 11th launch

Samsung is expected to unveil its upcoming Galaxy S20 series on February 11th at an Unpacked event in San Francisco. The lineup consists of the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra. Now, the South Korean brand has opened up pre-orders for the Galaxy S20 in the US. Interested customers can visit the page and enter the necessary details. It’s worth noting that the registering on the page is not the same as pre-order. Customers who register for the Galaxy S20 will receive a notification as soon as the pre-orders begin. Samsung says that pre-ordered Galaxy S20 units will be delivered to customers by March 6th. The registrations are open for the subscriber of major telecom operators in the US, including Verizon, AT & T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular.

The Galaxy Z Flip is also rumoured to launch alongside the S20 at the event. However, the company hasn’t confirmed its pre-orders yet. Other countries, including India, are also expected to begin S20 pre-orders in the coming days.

The Galaxy S20 series has been subject to multiple leaks and rumours in the past. The standard S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra will feature 6.2, 6.7 and 6.9-inch screen respectively. All three smartphones will sport Infinity-O AMOLED displays bearing WQHD+ resolution. The devices will also offer a higher 120Hz refresh rate panel. The Galaxy S20 series will be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 990 processor based on 7nm architecture. The standard and plus variants will come with 128GB internal storage expandable up to 1TB via microSD card slot. The S20 Ultra will be offered in 128GB and 512GB storage options. The phones may come with up to 12GB RAM. The S20 series will be equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner, Dolby Atmos speakers and IP68 water resistance rating.  

The Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus will have the same camera setup comprising of a 12MP main sensor, 64MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. However, the Plus variant will also come with an additional ToF sensor. Both the devices will support 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom and also come with a 10MP front snapper. On the other hand, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is rumoured to be equipped with a 108MP main sensor accompanied by 48MP telephoto, 12MP ultra-wide and a ToF camera. The device will offer 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. All three Galaxy S20 smartphones will come with an 8K video recording feature. The Ultra variant will be backed by 5,000mAh battery unit while the standard and Plus variant will have a 4,000mAh and 4,500mAh battery cell respectively. All three devices are expected to support 5G connectivity.

The Galaxy S20’s starting price is rumoured to be €899 (~Rs 70,900) while its 5G variant will cost €999 (~Rs 78,800). The S20 Plus 5G will be reportedly priced at €1,099 (~Rs 86,000). The S20 Ultra 5G is rumoured to retail at the starting price of €1,549 (~Rs 1,22,000).
