Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 launched in India: first sale date, price, specifications

Samsung Galaxy S22 series has been launched in India. The South Korean tech giant also announced the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablets alongside the S22 lineup. Last year, the company unveiled three S-series flagships in January such as the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. Today, it introduced the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra as successors for the Galaxy S21 trio.

The Galaxy S22 series comes with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform depending on the region. The company is known for launching its flagship phones with Exynos chipsets in India. However, this time around, it has launched the Snapdragon-powered S22 models in the country. In addition, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has debuted as the company’s first non-Note series phone with a dedicated S Pen storage slot.

In India, the Galaxy S22 has arrived in two variants such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.  It comes in three colors such as Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Green.

The Galaxy S22 Plus has landed in India in two options: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.  It also comes in hues like Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Green.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra price in India

The Galaxy S22 Ultra can be purchased in configurations such as 12GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage in India. Buyers can avail it in Burgundy, Phantom Black and Phantom White colours.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra launch offers

The Galaxy S22 series can be pre-ordered between February 23rd, 2022, and March 10th, 2022. Customers who pre-book the Galaxy S22 and S22+ will be able to avail the Galaxy Buds 2 for Rs 999. Without the offer, the Buds 2 is available for Rs 11,999. Those who pre-order the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be able to get the Galaxy Watch 4 worth Rs 26,999 and at an exciting price of Rs 2,699.

In addition to the above offers, existing Galaxy S-series and Note-series users will get an upgrade bonus of Rs 8,000, whereas users of other devices will get an upgrade bonus of Rs 5,000. Alternatively, customers who opt to purchase the Galaxy S22 series through Samsung Finance+ can avail a cashback of Rs 5,000.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra first sale date in India

The Galaxy S22 series will be available for purchase starting from March 11th, 2022. Customers who wish to pre-order and purchase the S22 lineup can visit leading retail stores, Samsung India’s online store, Samsung Exclusive stores, and Amazon India.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are fitted with a 6.1-inch and 6.6-inch display, respectively. These phones feature a Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate of 10Hz to 120Hz, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate in game mode. The S22 and S22+ are equipped with a 10-megapixel camera for capturing selfie and video calls. The rear camera setup of both smartphones has an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel primary camera with Dual Pixel Autofocus, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 120-degree FOV, and an OIS-enabled 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus ship with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The S22 has a 3,700mAh battery that supports 25W wired charging, whereas the S22 Plus has a bigger 4,500mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. Both phones carry support for 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare (reverse wireless charging).

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra features a dedicated slot for storing the S Pen

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that offers a Quad HD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate in game mode. The device is fitted with autofocus enabled 40-megapixel selfie camera. The rear-mounted quad-camera unit of the device features a 108-megapixel main camera with OIS and Dual Pixel Autofocus support, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 120-degree FOV, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS and 3x optical zoom support, and a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS and 10x optical zoom.

The S22 Ultra carries support for 100X Space Zoom that includes 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom coupled with AI super-resolution technology. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is fuelled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, and it comes with up to 12GB of RAM. It ships with up to 1TB of built-in storage and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The latter is equipped with support for 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.

The predecessor S21 Ultra debuted as the first S-series with S Pen stylus support. However, it did not feature a dedicated slot for storing the stylus. The S22 Ultra not only supports the S Pen, but also a dedicated compartment for storing it.

The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra are equipped with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. The three phones offer other features Android 12 OS with One UI 4.2 on top, dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6 (Galaxy S22), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and IP68 rated chassis. The Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra carry support for Wi-Fi 6E and Ultrawide Band (UWB). Samsung has confirmed that the S22 series will be treated with four generations of Android OS upgrades.
