Samsung Galaxy S23 featuring high-frequency Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tipped to release in this market

Highlights

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 series is confirmed to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
  • Europe may exclusively receive the high-frequency SD8G2 version of the S23 lineup
  • It appears that there will not be the S23 series in the Exynos chipset version

Samsung Galaxy S23 will arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform onboard. In the past, the South Korean tech giant sold the Snapdragon chipset version of its flagship phones in certain markets like South Korea, China, and the US. In some markets, like India and Europe, it has released its Exynos SoC variants. Several reports have shown that the performance of the Exynos was worse than that of the Snapdragon.

Exynos 2300 is rumoured to be Samsung’s next-generation in-house flagship chip. It is unknown when it will become official. Some reports have claimed that there won’t be any Exynos versions of the Galaxy S23 lineup. A new leak says that Europe, which used to get Samsung flagships with Exynos processors, will get a special version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Galaxy S23 European version to feature faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Reliable tipster, Ice Universe, shared a screengrab of the European variant of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with the SM-S918B model number. The listing reveals that the device is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and Android 13.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s Cortex-X3-based Kryo Prime clocks at 3.2GHz. However, in the above-shown image, the SD8G2’s prime core can be seen running at 3.36GHz. There is no change in the processing speeds of the other seven CPU cores.

According to the tipster, not only the S23 Ultra, but also the S23 and S23+ heading to Europe are equipped with a high-frequency version of the SD8G2. This is another good hint that the Galaxy S23 series with the Exynos chip may not exist.

A recent report claimed that Samsung might launch the Galaxy S23 series earlier than its predecessors. The South Korean company has been announcing the S-series phones in March each year, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were launched in February. It is speculated that the Galaxy S23 Unpacked event will be held in the first week of February 2023. It also claimed that the S23 series could be available for purchase around February 17th, 2023.
