Samsung Galaxy S23 Unpacked event will be held in early February 2023, claims a South Korean publication. A report that surfaced earlier this month also claimed that the S23 will debut in February next year. Reports surrounding the S23 series have claimed that the lineup will include three devices, namely, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Previously, Samsung launched its S-series flagship phones in select markets with Exynos chipsets. However, according to a recent report, the S23 series in all markets across the world will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform.

According to the report, the Galaxy S23 Unpacked event will be an in-person launch event. Samsung has been holding only online launch events since the pandemic began in 2020. While the South Korean tech giant did hold an offline event for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 last year, it wasn’t a full-fledged event like Samsung used to hold before the pandemic.
Hence, the upcoming Galaxy S23 launch event, which is said to be held in San Francisco, will be the first in-person event as travel and event restrictions have been lifted at most places. According to an earlier report, the event may take place on February 9th, 2023. It also claimed that it would go on sale around February 17th, 2023.
The S23 will be released at a challenging time. Due to the sluggish global economy and Chinese restrictions, smartphone demand is weak. According to Hana Securities’ analyst, global smartphone sales dropped 11 percent in October compared to the same month in 2021. Samsung Electronics handset sales decreased 11 percent last month, while Apple’s sales increased 10 percent due to the popularity of the iPhone 14.
Samsung Galaxy S23 series: expected specifications
According to reports, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will not be very different from the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, which feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The S23 and S23+ will come equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first smartphone from Samsung to include a 200-megapixel camera. It is rumoured to come equipped with the Samsung ISOCELL HP3 lens, which has never been on a 200-megapixel camera phone before. The S23 Ultra will also include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and an integrated S Pen stylus. According to reports, its remaining specifications are identical to those of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
