Samsung Galaxy S24+ series will not have Exynos chip, Galaxy S23 FE incoming in Q4 2023, reveal leaks

Highlights

  • Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S24 series in Q1 2024
  • The Galaxy S24 series will not have the Exynos chipset version
  • The Galaxy S23 FE will debut in Q4 2023

Samsung Galaxy S24 series rumours have started to surface. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Connor hints at the processor that will power the S24 lineup. While rumours indicate that Samsung is working on a new high-end Exynos SoC featuring ARM-designed CPU cores, it seems that the said chipset will not be incorporated into the Galaxy S24 flagship series. Hence, it appears that the Galaxy S24 series will be equipped with Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset.

There have been mixed reports on the existence of the Galaxy S23 Fan Edition. The most recent report claimed that the Galaxy S23 FE might be skipped this year. However, a South Korean publication has now claimed that the device is in the works and will be released this year.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series to Feature Only Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Galaxy S2 Ultra, S23+, and S23

Galaxy S2 Ultra, S23+, and S23

The Galaxy S23 series that debuted in February comes in a Snapdragon chipset version only. However, the Galaxy S series flagship phones that have launched in the past have been made available in Exynos and Snapdragon versions.

According to the aforementioned tipster, the Galaxy S24 series will not use the Exynos chipset anywhere in the world. This means that Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship SoC, which is tentatively called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, could be in the S24 line. Reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have one Cortex-X4 prime core working at up to 3.75GHz. It will be accompanied by five Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocking at up to 3.0GHz and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores operating at up to 2.0GHz.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that powers the Galaxy S23 series is not the exact same chip that powers flagship phones from other brands. The S23 lineup is powered by an overclocked version of the chipset that operates at 3.36GHz. The SoC is marketed as the “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.” Hence, it is likely that the Galaxy S24 lineup could be equipped with an overlocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch timeframe (rumoured)

A South Korean magazine called Sisajournal says that the Galaxy S23 FE will be released in the fourth quarter of 2023. The report states that the S23 FE will arrive instead of the Galaxy A74 5G, and hence, fill the gap between Samsung’s A-series and S-series smartphones.

The report claims that Samsung is now gearing up for parts production for the Galaxy S23 FE. Suppliers are expected to begin the mass production of the components required for the smartphone by the end of the third quarter of this year. The device is expected to feature a 120Hz AMOLED display, triple rear cameras, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which powers the Galaxy S22 series.
