Samsung has expanded its range of tablets in India with the launch of Tab S5e and Tab A 10.1. Both the devices were unveiled earlier in February this year. The former seems to be a premium device with impressive specs, while the latter is a refreshed version of the Galaxy Tab A available at a budget price tag. Let’s take a look at the latest tablets below:
Beginning with the Galaxy Tab S5e, the device is touted to be the company’s slimmest tablet yet measuring just 5.5mm. The device sports a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display bearing Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The display is surrounded by thin bezels and offers an 82 percent screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 features a slightly smaller 10.1-inch FHD display with an LCD panel.
Design-wise, both the devices sport a metallic unibody design. There is a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button for securely unlocking the device. The Tab S5e also offers facial recognition for enhanced security. On the audio front, the Tab S5e is equipped with quad speakers while the Tab A 10.1 comes with dual stereo speakers. Both the tablets support Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound tuned by AKG.
Under the hood, the Tab S5e houses the Snapdragon 670 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is equipped with an Exynos 7904 chipset paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The internal memory on both the device is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card slot.
In the camera department, the Tab S5e sports a 13MP rear sensor and an 8MP selfie shooter. The Tab A 10.1 comes with an 8MP rear camera and 5MP snapper on the front. Both the tablets run Android Pie with Samsung’s OneUI skinned on top. The Tab S5e also features built-in DeX support that allows users to easily switch between DeX mode and Android mode by connecting the device to its dedicated POGO keyboard. The Tab A 10.1 is loaded with a Parental Control feature that allows parents to set controls on applications, screen time, and more for their kids.
The Galaxy Tab S5e draws its power from a 7,040mAh battery with support for fast charging. The Tab A 10.1 is backed by a 6,150mAh unit. Connectivity options on both devices include USB Type-C, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Pricing & Availability:
Both the Galaxy Tab S5e and Tab A 10.1 are offered in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE variants. The devices are also available in three colour options – Silver, Black and Gold. As for pricing, the Wi-Fi only variant of the Tab S5e will cost Rs 35,999 while the Wi-Fi + LTE version carries a price tag of Rs 39,999. The device will go on sale from June 24th across all leading retail stores, Samsung e-shop and Samsung Opera House. The Wi-Fi only variant will also be available on Amazon, while the Wi-Fi + LTE variant on will be available on Flipkart.
The price of the Wi-Fi variant of the Tab A 10.1 is set at Rs 14,999 and the Wi-Fi + LTE version will retail at Rs 19,999. The former will only be available for purchase on Amazon and Samsung e-shop starting June 28th. The Wi-Fi + LTE model will be available across retail stores, Samsung e-shop, Samsung Opera House and Amazon starting July 1st.
