Last October, Samsung introduced its latest flagship Android tablet called the Galaxy Tab S6. Equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the slate arrived with support for 4G LTE connectivity. Now, after roaming in the rumour mill for a while, the 5G connectivity supported variant of the tablet has been officially unveiled by the company. Simply called the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G, the slate comes powered by the same Snapdragon 855 chipset, but it is equipped with the Qualcomm X50 modem, instead of the X24 LTE modem available on the 4G variant. Notably, the Galaxy Tab S6 5G is the world’s first tablet with support for 5G connectivity as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G specifications and features
Apart from 5G connectivity, the rest of the specifications of the Galaxy Tab S6 5G are identical to the 4G variant. The slate comes with a 10.5-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display that supports the S Pen, which attaches to the back of the device for charging and carrying. The Snapdragon 855 processor under the hood of the tablet is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but there’s no word if it’s expandable or not via a microSD card slot. The company hasn’t revealed the Android version of the slate, but we expect it to be Android 10 with One UI on top.
As for the other features, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G offers a 13-megapixel primary camera on the back, which is accompanied by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. For video calling, the tablet is equipped with an 8-megapixel on the front. Apart from 5G, the other connectivity features of the device include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and A-GPS with GLONASS. Lastly, a 7,040mAh battery with fast charging support completes the list of the specifications.
