Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series has been launched in India. They debuted at the brand’s Unpacked event earlier this month. The Galaxy Tab S8 lineup consists of a standard, Plus and Ultra variant. The Ultra model is a new and top-end device in the series.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series arrives as the successor to the Galaxy Tab S7 that launched way back in 2020. The latest offering packs significant upgrades over its predecessor. Let’s delve into the technical specifications below.

The standard Galaxy Tab S8

Starting with the standard Galaxy Tab S8, it comes with a 11-inch LTPS LCD display bearing a WQXGA resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra boast a 120Hz sAMOLED panel with WQXGA+ resolution and 12.4 and 14.6-inch displays respectively. Both variants also come with a display notch on the vertical side (when it is held in landscape mode) and the screen is also surrounded by thin bezels. It’s worth noting that the vanilla model doesn’t have a notch and the screen is instead surrounded by minimal bezels.

Design-wise, the back panel of the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup houses a pill-shaped camera module and a magnetic stripe for S-Pen. The standard, Plus and Ultra variants weigh 503g, 567g and 762g respectively. The Tab S8 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner whereas the Plus and Ultra models have an in-screen scanner. In terms of audio, the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup is equipped with quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG and Dolby Atmos support.

On the imaging front, the Galaxy Tab S8 series features a dual rear camera setup of a 13MP main sensor paired with a 6MP ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front, the standard and Plus models comes with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle snapper whereas the notch display on the Ultra variant accommodates 12MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide lenses. 

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 houses a 4nm 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The standard and Plus variant packs 8GB RAM and 128GB storage whereas the Ultra model maxes out at 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. There is a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion up to 1TB. The Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ are backed by an 8,000 and 10,090mAh battery unit while the Ultra model draws its power from an 11,200mAh cell. All three variants support 45W fast charging. The Galaxy Tab S8 lineup runs on Android 12 out of the box and come with Samsung Knox Vault. 

Connectivity options on the Galaxy Tab S8 series include a USB-C port, 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi-6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ are offered in Graphite, Silver, and Pink Gold colours while the Ultra model is available in only Graphite colour. The standard and Plus variants are available in 8GB + 128GB configuration. The former is priced at Rs 58,999 for the WiFi-only model while the 5G version costs Rs 70,999. On the other hand, the Tab S8+ costs Rs 74,999 and Rs 87,999 for the WiFi-only and 5G variants respectively. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra carries a price tag of Rs 1,08,999 for WiFi-only and 1,22,999 for the 5G version respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series will be available for pre-orders between February 22 – March 10th on the brand’s official website and leading Samsung authorised partners. Customers pre-booking the device will get a free keyboard worth Rs 22,999. HDFC Bank customers will be eligible for cashback worth Rs 10,000 on the purchase of Tab S8 Ultra, Rs 8,000 on Tab S8+, and Rs 7,000 on Tab S8.
