At its Galaxy Unpacked Event 2020, Samsung launched its flagship Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Tab S7 series and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Apart from these, the brand also launched the third-generation Galaxy Watch3 and the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds with noise cancellation.
The third-generation Galaxy Watch is being offered in 41mm and 45mm dial sizes and comes with features like an IP68 rating, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Exynos SoC and Tizen OS among others. The Galaxy Buds Live has a unique bean-shaped design and comes with a charging case.
Samsung Galaxy Watch3 specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 comes in two sizes – 41mm and 45mm, where the former features a 1.2-inch display and latter offers a 1.4-inch screen with rotating bezels. The AMOLED display offers a screen resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass DX. It is powered by the Exynos 9110 SoC, which is a 1.15GHz dual-core ARM-based processor designed especially for smartwatches and other wearable devices. The processor is mated to 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.
Coming to the design, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has two physical buttons on the right edge for back and home. The watch features an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. It also has a 5ATM rating and MIL-STD-810G certification. Samsung is offering the Galaxy Watch 3 in Stainless Steel with leather strap and Titanium with metal strap. While the former will be offered in Mystic Black and Mystic Silver colours, latter will come in a single Mystic Black colour.
Out of the box, the Galaxy Watch 3 boots Tizen OS 5.5 and is compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop or above and iOS 9.0 or above. Health tracking features include a heart rate sensor, ECG, SpO2 sensor, blood pressure sensing, activity tracking, and a pulse oximeter. Powering the 41mm and 45mm variants are 247mAh and 340mAh batteries, respectively.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is being offered in LTE and Bluetooth variants with connectivity options including Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, and GPS/Glonass/Beidou/Galileo. Other features include over 80,000 watch faces from the Galaxy Store, fall detection, SOS notification, running analysis, sleep tracking, auto-reply for messages, hand gestures and more.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Live specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live is the latest true-wireless in-ear earbuds from the brand. The unique bean-shaped earbuds come with 12mm integrated drivers and AKG-tuned audio. Each earbud has two internal and one external microphone, to facilitate Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and Bixby Voice Wake-up. Each earbud weighs 5.6gms and come with touch control for answering calls, control music playback, and change volume. The earbuds are equipped with 60mAh batteries each, whereas the case features a 472mAh battery.
With the active noise cancelling turned on, the Galaxy Buds Live can offer a talk time of up to 4.5 hours, which extends to 5.5 hours with ANC turned off. In terms of music playback, the Buds Live can last up to 6 hours with either Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) or Bixby Voice Wake-up turned on, 5.5 hours with both on and 8 hours with both turned off.
With the charging case, the Galaxy Buds Live can last up to 29 hours with ANC and Bixby Voice Wake-up turned off and up to 20 hours with turned on. Samsung claims that the charger provides up to 60 minutes of music playback in just 5 minutes of charging. The charger itself can be charged through USB Type-C and supports wireless charging. The earbuds are IPX2 certified for water-resistance and cross compatible with Android 5.0 or above, and iOS 10 or above on iPhone 7 or older.
The Galaxy Buds Live is being offered in Mystic Bronze, Mystic White, and Mystic Black colours.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live price and availability
Samsung has not announced the pricing of both Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live as of now. However, both will be made available in select countries from August 6th. The Titanium variant of Galaxy Watch 3 will be made available later this year.
