Samsung has announced the Galaxy XCover 5 ruggedized smartphone. According to the South Korean tech giant, the XCover 5 is built to handle withstand tough work environments like field and factory work. The IP68 certification not only keep its safe from dust, but also ensures that it remains undamaged even if it is submerged 1 metre deep water for over 30 minutes. It can withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters as it comes with enhanced shock absorption.

The MIL-STD-810H rating ensures that the Galaxy XCover 5 can overcome harsh climatic conditions. It comes with Glove-Touch feature that makes it possible to operate it while wearing gloves. Additionally, it comes with a user-replaceable battery.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5  is an IP68 and MIL-STD-810H rated ruggedized smartphone 

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 has a 5.3-inch HD+ LCD display that supports 720p HD+ resolution. The thick bezel above the display features a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is equipped with a push-to-talk function, which allows users to use the Galaxy XCover 5 as a walkie-talkie through Microsoft Teams. The right edge of the device has a reconfigurable XCover key that can be used to launch any frequently used apps like maps or LED flashlight.

The Galaxy XCover5 is powered by the Exynos 850 chipset and 4GB of RAM. It offers an internal storage of 64GB and it has a microSD card slot for expansion. The smartphone runs Android 11 and it offers users Knox security features for protecting sensitive data.

It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery that supports 15W charging through USB Type-C. It can be also charged through the pair of POGO pins provided on the bottom edge of the device. It lacks a fingerprint scanner but comes with support for face unlock.

The Galaxy XCover 5 has a 5-megapixel selfie camera and a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The LED flash present next to the camera can also be used a torch. It comes with connectivity features like dual SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Galaxy XCover 5 has arrived in the UK with a price tag of £329 (~Rs 33,200). The company confirmed that the handset will be releasing in select markets in Asia, Europe, and Latin America this month.
