Samsung held its biggest launch event of the year – Galaxy Unpacked 2020, through an online-only event today. Apart from the Galaxy Note 20 series phones, the brand also launched its second-generation Galaxy Fold device, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2, which comes with upgraded hardware and specifications compared to last year’s Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Compared to the Galaxy Fold launched last year, the Galaxy Z Fold2 comes with a significant design upgrade as it features punch-hole Infinity-O screens on the inside as well as the outer panel.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 ships with a 7.6-inch Super AMOLED flexible display on the inside with a glass layer on top. The Galaxy Z Fold2 is also the first foldable smartphone to offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display is a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED panel. Samsung has significantly reduced the bezels this year with the inclusion of a punch-hole cutout on both displays.
Samsung has likely upgraded the spec sheet including the processor, camera, battery and more. However, more details will be revealed later.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 is being offered in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black colour options. The brand has also partnered with Thom Browne to launch a Thom Browne Edition Galaxy Z Fold2. Samsung has not announced the pricing and availability of the smartphone yet but has promised more information on September 2nd, when the first pre-orders will begin.
